I'd play the team our season was clearly setup to have as first choice:
Hart
Zabaleta
Fonte
Reid
Cresswell
Obiang
Kouyate
Antonio
Lanzini
Arnautovic
Hernandez
Quite straightforward really.
Subs:
Adrian, Byram, Ogbonna, Noble, Masuaku, Ayew, Martinez
Whether Toni is good enough or not, unless we pack the bench with defence minded players or another average midfielder (Fernandes) then surely he should be there as a no brainer?
Otherwise it has to be Haksabanovic or Holland who could at least come on and play wide, allowing Antonio to go up top.
Genuinely don't understand the desire to fail to blood our younger players given the chance. Slav is a stubborn and loyal bugger which is at some level admirable, but when it stunts the clubs progression it needs strongly questioning.

With Sakho out ( as he will be for most of what is left of his career IMO as back injuries do not heal ) Arnautovic needs to start showing why we spent 27 million on him. Will/can he open up teams and produce an assist or a goal? Is he another Ayew and will be a luxury player who can sometimes produce a piece of magic but largely a passenger when we are not in possession? At the moment it looks like the latter. DO not see a work rate from all players but that has to be down to the laissez-faire leadership of Slaven "Crusty the Clown" Bilic :-( Only my opinion but we have seen only 2 or 3 decent performances in 18 months since the "Payet effect" started to wear off the team. Why will it change now? Same question I would ask the owners and why Bilic should have been replaced. In fact the retention of Bilic tells me all I need to know about the intelligence, ambition and know how of our owners when it comes to the footballing side of the business.

We know what Ayew does if you give him a run, he finds a blind allley! Has a nack for a goal but aint no striker nor winger. Still can’t believe with possibly no recognised striker he’ll omit Martinez. Not even given him a chance in cup games despite scoring & playing well pre season.
He’ll go on loan in January and sit on the bench somewhere & stagnate

We have the players to win it even with Sakho out but I expect Bilic to play Ayew and hand the initiative to Brighton.

Brighton will play 5 across the midfield and come for the point.I don't blame them. They will be hoping our fans get on the players backs if we are not winning at half time.
Deal Canvey's team is good enough towin this by a couple of goals.
Why Martinez will not be on the bench is beyond me,give him a chance and he could deliver.He's scoring for fun in a supposedly superior U23 league.He's shown he can step up every time.
A bench without him will look something like this
Adrian.Byram,Ogbonna,Masuka,Noble,Ayew,Rice
A rather negative non game changing bench.
Holland and Martinez should be there instead of two of those at home
